She was born, September 20, 1944, to Wilbert and Evalyn (Simmons) Wehmueller in Flint, Michigan. Joan attended school in St. Louis, Missouri graduating from Lutheran High School South and then attending The Lutheran School of Nursing.
On December 29, 1965, she married Gary Heide at Peace Lutheran Church in LeMay, Missouri, in 1981 They went out west and Gary was called to pastor the First Lutheran Church in St. Helens. Joan continued her career as a nurse working at OHSU, Rose Valley Assisted Living and Marquis Care before retiring in 2014. Joan was also very involved at the church doing everything but teaching Sunday School, she had a passion for the music side of things and was a member of the choir and the bell choir. She was also a great supporter of St. Helens High School Marching Band. In her free time she enjoyed sewing, scrapbooking and genealogy.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years Gary Heide, their children; Kitty Heide, Kristin (Warren) Fincher, and Kalli (Matt) Baker, her grandson Nicholas Fincher, her sister Carol Khoury and her brother William Wehmueller. As well as her loving kittycat Angelica Marie and numerous grandkittens.
A memorial service will be held March 8, 2025, at 11:00 am at Christ Episcopal Church in St. Helens, Oregon.
