Joan B. Mavor (née Thorndike), of Bridgewater, formerly of East Bridgewater, passed away on May 9, 2023. She was 82. Joan graduated from Stonehill College and went on to have a successful career as a teacher. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, keeping her birdfeeders full, and sunny days in the yard with her beloved dogs over the years, most recently, Trista. She looked forward to the monthly luncheons with high school friends and was happiest when surrounded by her family. Joan will be deeply missed.
Beloved wife of the late Ronald T. Mavor. Devoted mother of Timothy Mavor and his wife Ruth of Washington DC, Anne Mavor Bear and her husband Barry of Connecticut and Carol McKenna and her husband Rick of Raynham. Loving mother-in-law of Robbin Mavor of Ohio.
Cherished Gramma of Reilly Turner, Delaney Mavor, Shaellen Mavor, Ronald Bear, Frank Bear, Rebecca Bear, David McKenna, Kari Graham, Lisa Williams, Jared Williams, and Lydia Williams. Great-Grammy Joanie to Finn, Katriona, McKenna, Apryl, and Mychal.
Loving sister of Diane Kaneb and her husband Al of Weston, Christopher Thorndike of Auburn, Susan Thorndike of Connecticut, and Elizabeth Berry and her husband Frank of North Carolina. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Best of friends with the late Penny Sawyer.
Service days and times to be determined. Donations in memory of Joan may be made to the charity of your choice.
