Joan Catherine Mire, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, went to be with the Lord over the holidays at the age of 78. She was born to the late Don and Wilma Kuehl in Fulda, MN on October 23, 1944. Growing up in Fulda, Joan participated in the 4H club where she won many awards for the champion cattle she showed. In 1963, Joan graduated from Fulda High School and then went on to earn her business degree at Southwest University in Mankato, MN. Later in life, Joan moved to Baton Rouge with her three children. It was here that she met the love of her life, Brent. They were married on March 22, 1997 at St. Aloysius Church.
Joan was very proud of her work as a State Farm Agent, which she did for 46 years. One of her greatest achievements was a place in the State Farm President’s Club. Joan loved her job and could often be heard asking people, “Who do you have insurance with?” When she wasn’t selling insurance, Joan enjoyed walking around the lake at LSU, cooking, traveling, reading, puzzles, painting, and watching movies. Two of her favorite places were breakfast at Louie’s and dinner at Gino’s. She was a member of the Country Club of Louisiana, the Mad Hatters Society, and the Bengal Belles.
The trip she took to Europe with her parents, traveling to Fulda to visit her family and grandchildren, and relaxing at the beach in Sandestin, FL were some of Joan’s favorite memories. Joan was a caring and giving woman who loved her family, friends, and her new puppy, Doni. She was a beautiful person inside and out who will be remembered for her integrity, exuberant personality, big heart, and love for people. Joan always had a kind word to say to everyone who crossed her path.
Joan was preceded in death by her daughter, Tracey Kramer Michelli; and sister, Barb Haupert. She is survived by her loving husband, Brent Boyd; sons, Dr. Troy Kramer (Paul) and Todd Kramer; son-in-law, Paul Michelli; siblings: Bob Kuehl (Tammy), Mary Lubben (Dan), and Debbie Svoboda (Walter); numerous grandchildren in MN, MS, and LA, and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 12-2 PM on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Resthaven Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, LA, with the Funeral Service beginning at 2 PM. A celebration of life will be held at the Fulda American Legion in Fulda, MN from 2-5 PM on January 14, 2023.
