Surrounded by love, Joan L. Orndoff passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025, at the age of 89, after a rich and meaningful life filled with love, family, and service. Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Blaine Nelson Orndoff, in 2020. A registered nurse, Joan met Blaine when he was her patient and from that meeting, a lifelong love began. They married on June 29, 1957, and shared 63 years of marriage and adventure. She graduated from the Western Pennsylvania School of Nursing, Class of 1956, and served as a registered nurse throughout her career. Joan was deeply respected for her dedication and compassion, especially during her years at Presbyterian SeniorCare. She was instrumental in efforts that helped ensure the continuation of quality care for thousands of individuals across Pennsylvania a legacy that lives on through the people and institutions she touched. Joan loved her family, sewing, cooking (especially baking pies), and traveling the world with Blaine. Her Christian faith and devotion to family were always central to her life. She is survived by her sons, David Orndoff of Pittsburgh, PA, and Jeffrey Orndoff (wife Mary) of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren Andrew (Maddie), Emily (Joey), Patrick, and Michael; and great-grandchildren Uli, Andy, Ginny, Danny, Charlie, and Benny. She is also remembered fondly by many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
