SCOTTSDALE, AZ - Joan Pauline Ulinski, 75, loving and faithful wife of 57 years, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2023 surrounded by her family.
Joan was born on June 10, 1947 in Utica, New York to Jay D. and Helen G. Butterworth. She grew up in Columbus, Ohio, where she graduated from Bishop Watterson Catholic High School. Joan and her husband, John S. Ulinski were married on January 29, 1966 and lived in Rochester, NY where they raised their two daughters, Joyce A. Schmid (Justin) and Janice Galloway Ulinski (Charles). As a couple, Joan and John were quite adventurous where their activities over the years included snowmobiling, boating, camping, and four-wheeling. They traveled across the country in a motor home nearly a dozen times, sightseeing along whichever route was chosen for the pilgrimage. Joan very much loved her two grandsons, Talon O. Schmid and Kanan C. Schmid and visited California frequently both before and after moving to Scottsdale, AZ in 2006 to be closer to family. Joan remained close to family and friends, including numerous nieces and nephews and became especially close with Celina Warner after the death of her only sister, Joyce Rogers. Additionally, Joan was a protective and guiding presence to both her daughters and grandsons. She will be missed more than words can express. Joan was a faithful follower of the Lord Jesus Christ which provides great comfort to her family, knowing that she is now in the presence of those that passed before her.
She is survived by her husband John, daughters, Joyce A. Schmid (Justin) and Janice Galloway Ulinski (Charles), and two grandsons Talon O. Schmid and Kanan C. Schmid.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John's Church, Newport on Tuesday, August 22nd at 10:00a.m. with Father Thomas Babiuch, Pastor officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, New Hartford.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Autenrith Funeral Home, Newport.
