Joan Mae Mack William was born August 8, 1935, to the union of William F. Mack and Rachel D. Mack. She was the second of the four Mack children. Both parents and older brother "Billy" preceded her in death. Joan received he high school education from Lincoln High School and completed with honors, her child development and Montessori certification from Penn Valley Community College, graduating Pi Theta Kappa honor society member. In a Christmas wedding Joan married Melvin Williams in 1955 and together saw 65 years of marriage producing two children, Taunya Loraine and Jimmy Dale Williams. As a military family The Williams traveled and lived around the world. Joan was a celebrated fine artist. She drew, painted, wrote poems and short stories. As a member of the Artist Guild, she was acknowledged for her creations, especially her paintings depicting African and American images using variety and unusual are mediums. Many of her works will be displayed during the repast. At a very young age she dedicated herself to the Lord and thus began her lifelong relationship with Christ. Joan attended the Fellowship Baptist Church and was an avid student of the bible, she especially enjoyed Sunday School. Joan leaves to cherish her memory her children, Jimmy (Dawn); and Taunya; sisters, Barbara Mack Johnson; and Brenda Joyce Mack; grandchildren, Heather Gladstone (Phil) who resides in English; Jimmy Jr. (England); Shelby Williams; Aaron Delaney (Sean); and Felicia Wash all of Kansas City, MO; five great grandchildren; a bonus daughter; and great friend, Kelley Hampton; along with a large host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday October 4, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel 1800 East Linwood Blvd. KCMO 64109. Interment: Mount Moriah Cemetery. Visitation: 9 – 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel. Arrangements entrusted to Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapels. Condolences may be shared on our website lawrenceajones.com.
