Joann M. Brown, 72, of Canton Township, passed away on October 18, 2025 (Sweetest Day) peacefully at home and surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Waynesburg, Ohio on September 6, 1953 to the late Earl and Ruby (Turkovich) Baxter.
Joann was a 1971 graduate of Sandy Valley High School and during her sophomore year, she started working at Arts Jeweler which she continued to do for 38 years before retiring.
After retirement, Joann drove bus for Stark DD for numerous years and enjoyed being with all the children.
She had a passion and green thumb for her tending to her flower beds and enjoyed canning.
Joann never missed an opportunity to take a trip to Amish County and loved vacationing in Florida. Above all, Joann treasured the time spent with her family, especially with her grandchildren and her trusty, furry companion, Penny.
In addition to her parents, Joann was preceded in death by her siblings Donald Baxter, Robert Baxter and Nancy Murray.
Left to cherish her memory, is her husband Merle "James" Brown of 53 years; daughters Jamie Sheridan, Janell Brookes, and Jaclyn (Jim) Garrison; loving grandchildren Ian (Libby), Riley, Ryan, Dillon, Spencer, Emily and Samantha; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to Dr. Jeffrey Marsh and the staff of the Timken Family Cancer Center.
Friends may gather on Friday, October 24th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Arnold Funeral Home, 1517 Market Ave. N., Canton. A memorial service will follow at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Aultman Hospice.

I am so sorry to hear about Joann, growing up I was always at Bill and Nancy house and Joann would come over with the twins. She was such a nice lady and I bet that she is happy to be with Patty once again. All of you will be in my thoughts and prayers.
