Joann Dearinger, 84, passed away on Friday August 15 in Des Moines Iowa. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 21st, at 11:00 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Knoxville. Family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville following the service.

Joann Kay Brown was born on October 15, 1940, to Doris V. (Johnson) Brown and Louis Marion Brown in Grinnell, Iowa, and graduated from Malcom High School with the Class of 1959.

She married Dale Dearinger on June 16, 1968, in Malcom, Iowa and moved to a farm outside of Knoxville Iowa where she began her long career as a farm wife and homemaker. Dale and Joann raised corn and beans on their farm, and over the years their farm was home to many cats and dogs, cattle, hogs, chickens, goats, turkeys and their daughters' many ponies and horses.

Together they enjoyed camping and taking walks at the nearby state parks and spent many weekends pulling a horse trailer to horse shows for their daughters. In her later years Joann enjoyed hanging out with her friend Susie and she fulfilled her biggest bucket list item with a trip to Africa with her friend Janet. She took great joy in her 5 grandkids and loved to shop for them and buy ALL the toys. She also loved dogs, especially the little ones, and her grand pups enjoyed visiting her on the farm.

Joann spent her last few years living at Calvin Community in Des Moines, and she and her family appreciate all the loving care the staff at Calvin gave her every day.

Joann is survived by her daughters: Deborah (Robert) Miller of Urbandale, Linda (Bart) Brody of Des Moines; grandchildren: Emily (Christian Hayden), Isaac, Theo Miller and Adeline and Annabella Brody all of Des Moines; siblings: Roberta Nason of Marshalltown, IA, Barbara Heffel of Greeley, CO, Larry (Judy) Brown of Grinnell, Marion (Betty) Brown of Kirksville, MO, and Ron Brown of Grinnell; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Dale, brother Carl Brown and her parents.
