Joann M. Lovito, of Braintree, formerly of Port Chester, NY, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, after a long illness, at the age of 83. Born on November 18, 1941, in Port Chester, NY, she was the cherished daughter of the late Andrew and Fanny (Santoro) Lovito. Joann's life was a testament to her adventurous spirit and her unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
Joann was a graduate of Resurrection High School in New York, a foundation that set the stage for a life filled with learning, love, and laughter. She was a homemaker, creating a warm and welcoming home where everyone felt cherished and valued. Joann's sense of style was impeccable, and she was known as a true fashionista, always "dressing to the nines" and embodying the essence of her beloved New York in every outfit she chose.
Her love for New York was deep and abiding. Raised in the bustling city, she remained a true New Yorker at heart, no matter where life took her. Joann's passion for the city's culture and vibrancy was matched only by her love for the New York Yankees. A die-hard fan, she followed every game with enthusiasm and joy, sharing her love of sports with all who knew her.
Joann's adventurous nature shone through in her love of travel. She relished the opportunity to explore new places and experience different cultures, but she was always happiest when dining out with family and friends, sharing stories and creating memories. As a loving mother, Joann poured her heart into raising her children, Bruce Drew Klingenberg and his wife Dawn of Leominster, Donald Klingenberg and his wife Debbie of FL, Debra Klingenberg of Weymouth, Dawn Prezioso and her husband Ronald of Braintree, and Barbara Dyan Klingenberg of Braintree. She was a devoted sister to Jerry Lovito of FL, loving Aunt to Gerry Lovito of CT, and Tara Lovito of FL, Cousin-sister to Geraldine Salvatore of Port Chester NY and the former wife of the late Roger Klingenberg. Joann's legacy of love continues through her grandchildren, who affectionately called her Grandma, Christopher Klingenberg and his wife Kelly of Leominster, and her great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Jacob Klingenberg, who knew her affectionately.
Joann's life was one of connection and warmth. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and her presence was a source of comfort and joy to all who were lucky enough to know her.
The world is a little less bright without Joann's radiant presence, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched. We remember her not only for the life she lived but for the love she gave so freely and the joy she brought to so many.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Monday, August 25th, at 10:00 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 850 Washington St., Braintree. Burial will follow in the Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
