JoAnn Joyce (LaFond) McGee, age 89, died at home Thursday September 22, 2022 after a courageous 18-month battle with cancer. She was born April 9, 1933 to Joyce (Luedtke) and Bill LaFond Jr. She grew up in Menekaunee and graduated from Marinette High School in 1952. On July 3, 1956 she married Pat McGee in Washington D.C. JoAnn was a trained colorist for Baker Studio in Marinette and took those skills to Washington where she worked at Harris and Ewing, coloring portraits of visiting dignitaries. She and her husband returned to the Midwest, where they owned and operated Singer Sewing Centers in Escanaba, Manistique, Munising and Marinette. In later years she worked in Peshtigo at Ben Franklin, Pine View, and the Peshtigo Post Office until officially retiring at the age of 79. JoAnn loved to travel, enjoyed fishing and camping, and was a sports fan, especially of the Packers, Brewers, and Badgers.
JoAnn is survived by three daughters, Cindy (Larry Gardon) McGee, Sherry (Jon) Pesko, and Karen (Dick) McFarlane. She was a loving Grandma to Molly (Mike) Stonesifer, Sean (Ashley) Gardon, Kelsey (Nick) Ganter, Mitchel McFarlane, and Trinity Pesko; and loving Great-Grandma to Grant, Roman, and Dane Stonesifer, and Finn and Gemma Gardon.
She is preceded in death by her husband Pat (1989), her parents, a sister Billie Jean, and two step-sons Pat and Mike. Per JoAnn's wishes, a private family service will be held. JoAnn's family wishes to thank the Bellin Medical Staff and Unity Hospice for the care and kindness they showed to her.
