JoAnna Kyte Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Knell Mortuary on Feb. 12, 2026.
JoAnna "Jody" Kyte, 89, Carthage, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026, following an illness.

Jody was born in Carthage, Missouri, on January 14, 1937, to Nadine (Russell) Dyer and John Dyer. She was the oldest of 5 siblings. Jody graduated from Carthage High School in 1955.

On October 5, 1957, Jody married Roger "Warren" Kyte. Three sons were born to this union. Many years were spent on the family farm, where they raised their boys along with a myriad of beloved pets.

Jody was a dedicated public servant. She worked for 56 years in the Jasper County Clerk's Office, serving under nine different county clerks during her time. Throughout her life, she maintained close friendships from both high school and her workplace, meeting regularly with friends.

She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Carthage and enjoyed worshiping with her church family.

Though she loved her work and life on the farm, Jody especially treasured her role as a grandmother. She was blessed with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She loved hearing about their adventures and always made each of them feel special and deeply loved.

Jody wasn't one for hobbies, but she faithfully read the newspaper every day. She loved to pass the paper on when she was done!

After Warren's passing, Jody continued his tradition of bringing old family photos to gatherings. She loved reminiscing and sharing treasured memories and keepsakes from the family home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roger "Warren" Kyte; and her son, Phillip Kyte. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, John Dyer and David Dyer; and her sister, Carol Dyer.

Jody is survived by her sons, Greg (Mary) Kyte, and Richard Kyte; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by one sister, Lawana Lovekamp.

A celebration of Jody's life will be held at 2 pm, Monday, February 16, 2026, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. The burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery, Jasper, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 1 pm until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Carthage R-9 Foundation in care of Knell Mortuary. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
