Joanne Elizabeth "Jody" (Walker) Baker, 72, of Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at Homeview Health and Rehabilitation Center of Franklin. Born on Tuesday, September 23, 1952 in Johnson County, Indiana. Jody was the daughter of Earl and Phyllis Walker. She was a member of Paragon Christian Church. Jody was a graduate of Martinsville High School class of 1970. Indiana Bank and Trust in Martinsville employed her for several years before she moved on to employment at IUPUI in Indianapolis and later the U.S. Census Bureau. Jody had a love for motorcycles, Corvettes, and American History War stories. She traveled often with her good friend, Vi, of Montana, and a former schoolmate, Barbara Constantine of California. She is survived by her sisters, Katherine "Kit" (Walker) Bertelsen of Florida, Martha "Martie" Walker of Avon, Rebecca "Becky" Walker of Indianapolis; brother Lee Walker of Tennessee. Jody is preceded in death by her husband, Dale E. Baker; parents, Earl and Phyllis; sister, Lucy (Walker) Cabrera. Jody will be laid to rest 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2025 at Centerton Cemetery in Morgan County, Indiana at a family graveside service. Jody bravely battled her struggles with Dementia/Alzheimer's. The family appreciates the service of one of her best cousins and caregiver, Susie Graphman of Morgantown.
