Forrest "Raymond" Marshall, Jr.,of Martinsville, was called home to heaven Friday, June 6, 2025, at the Franciscan Heart Center, Indianapolis, surrounded by loved ones. Raymond was the first of three children born to the late Forrest R. and Thelma (Pennington) Marshall on February 18, 1941, in Martinsville, IN. Raymond was a 1959 MHS graduate, attended GMI and earned an associate engineering degree from Purdue. He earned certification as a journeyman die maker at the Chevrolet Indianapolis plant (later GM Truck & Bus). He also worked in tool design and inspection and reliability engineering. He was an expert craftsman and could design and build almost anything and fix anything that was broken. Raymond designed and built three houses, including his home in Shireman Estates, where he has served on the LDCD Board of Directors, and also built two airplanes (KR1 and KR2). He was a private pilot and a certified flight instructor and member of the EAA. He also enjoyed restoring old and classic cars and attending car shows. Raymond married the love of his life, Patricia "Patty" Ann (Frye) June 16, 1962. They were truly a match made in heaven. He was Dad to two daughters and Pappy to four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was proud of all his "kids" and supported and attended their many talents and events. Raymond enjoyed hiking and daily walks with Patty and their beagles, camping, visiting state and national parks and drove their motorhome to Alaska with their family and three beagles in 2008. Raymond helped Patty in her Longaberger business, built prize-winning Fall Foliage Festival floats, and was the official van driver for many Longaberger tours. Together, they enjoyed working their antique mall booth. A humble servant of God, he served as elder and deacon at Liberty Christian Church and, for the past 21 years, at First Christian Church of Morgantown. He began the video ministry at FCCM and he and Patty have faithfully operated the video system each Sunday since then. In addition to his wife, Raymond is survived by his daughters, Whitney Goodwin and Heather Bales (Jim); sister, Norma Lindsey (Larry); sister-in-law Nancy Wilson (Richard); grandchildren, Marshall Bales (Kristen), Audrey Able (Ryne), Patricia Gray (Cody), and Parker Bales; great-grandchildren; Jamin, Elora and Phineas Able, and Lillian Bales; numerous nieces and nephews. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William "Bill" Marshall. Visitation is 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Saturday, June 14, at First Christian Church Morgantown, 2717 South Morgantown Road, 46160, with services at 5:00 pm. He will be laid to rest Monday, June 16, in New South Park Cemetery, Martinsville, at 10:30 am. Memorial gifts may be made to Beagle Freedom Project or an animal rescue of the donor's choice.
