Joanne Elizabeth Johnson Haggerty, affectionately known by her beloved father as Jodi, passed away peacefully in her home in Lakewood NJ on August 14, 2025, at the age of 72.
Born on November 3, 1952, in Washington Heights, New York, and later moved to Grant City Staten Island. Jodi's life was a testament to her loving, funny, and generous spirit.
Joanne was predeceased by her parents, Edna and John Johnson, who instilled in her the values of kindness and compassion that she carried throughout her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter with her devoted husband, Michael McNamara, her beloved children from her first marriage, Jessica Haggerty and Craig Haggerty, and her cherished grandchildren, Kevin Duffy and Kaitlyn Duffy. Her siblings, Kathryn Brown, Patricia Daggett, and Jack Johnson, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews, will fondly remember Joanne's boundless energy and joyful presence.
Educated at St. Christopher's School and New Dorp High School in Staten Island, New York, Joanne's early years were filled with sports, cheerleading, academic achievements and cherished friendships. She later embraced the role of homemaker dedication, creating a warm and welcoming home filled with music, laughter, and the patter of dog paws, Red, Joey and Blue, she loved her dogs.
Joanne's Catholic faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her through times of joy and sorrow with unwavering hope and resilience. She found great solace and strength in her beliefs, which she shared generously with those around her.
A lifelong music enthusiast, Joanne's passion for live concerts was unmatched. She reveled in the communal experience of music, sharing memorable performances and melodies with friends and family. Her laughter could light up a room, and her humorous anecdotes will be recounted for years to come.
Joanne's generosity knew no bounds. Whether lending a helping hand or offering a listening ear, she was always there for those in need. Her kindness left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
As we bid farewell to Joanne, we celebrated a life well-lived-a life filled with devotion to family, a passion for life's simple pleasures, and a generous spirit that lifted others. Her memory will forever be cherished and kept alive in the stories we share and the love we continue to give. Joanne's departure leaves a void that can never be filled, but her spirit will forever remain a guiding light in the lives of her family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the Leisure Village East, Barton Hall, 1 Dumbarton Dr, Lakewood, NJ, Lakewood, NJ from 12:30 to 4:30.
