Joanne Janice Putnam (Alfano) of Vassar, MI was called home to our Lord and Savior on Saturday May 18, 2024. Born in Saginaw on July 13, 1938, raised in Mayville, Michigan, the daughter of Joseph and Verna Hogan/Alfano. She had many friends and family in the Mayville/Vassar, MI area, and could light up a room and fill it with laughter with everyone she met. She was an avid bowler, loved to play cards and take trips across the country to various casinos with her husband when they retired.
Joanne married John Putnam of Caro in 1957, and together they had two children, Mike and Joe Putnam and his partner Beth Belill of Frankenmuth, MI. Joanne worked for Gilchrist drug store for many years, as a pharmacy technician, and retired when her husband, John retired from Means Industries in Vassar.
Joanne leaves behind her sisters, Amelia Alfano-Withers (Lloyd) of Mayville, Shelly Alfano-Murringer (Keith) of Vassar, and Vicky Alfano-Roberts of Mayville. Granddaughters Jillian Schefka (Justin) of Royal Oak, MI. Great Granddaughter Nellie Schefka, and many Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Great Nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Joseph and mother Verna Alfano, brother Albert Alfano, son Michael Putnam, and brother-in-law Owen Roberts.
Joanne's wishes of cremation have taken place. Joanne's wishes of not having a funeral are being honored and a memorial in her honor is being planned. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations be made to St. Lukes Lutheran Church Vassar.
