In Loving Memory of Joe Willie Brooks
April 08, 1960 – October 22, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joe W. Brooks, 65 years old, who left us peacefully on October 22, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with chronic illness. He was surrounded by the love of his family, just as he had been throughout his life.
Joe was born in Goodman, MS. He was baptized at an early age at Georgeville UMC Church. He attended Durant Attendance Center High School, Holmes Junior College, and West Virginia University for 2 years. Joe later moved to Kenner, LA, and finally resided in
LaPlace, LA.
He was a man defined by hard work, integrity, and devotion. Spending most of his years as a Gunite Craftsman and overseeing the construction of beautiful commercial and residential pools across the Southeast Region. Whether on the job, at home, or lending a helping hand to a friend, he gave his all in everything he did. He took pride in a lifetime of dedication-to his work, his family, and his values-and he faced each day with strength and quiet determination.
Above all, Joe was a family man. He was a loving husband to his wife of 32 years, a proud father, and a cherished grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His greatest joy came from time spent with those he loved.
Joe lived life and did it his way-with strength, endurance, and heart. Teaching us by example to work hard, love deeply, and never lose sight of what truly matters.
He leaves to cherish his memories; his wife Rosalind Brooks of
LaPlace, LA, one daughter Darrelyn Washington of
LaPlace, LA, one son Javonte Brumfield of FL, a host of siblings: Reola of Los Angeles, CA, Cornelius Jr. (Tiffany) of Kenner, LA, Tommie Sr. of Houston, TX, Dale (Deborah) of Temple, TX, Joe L., Kennedy (Rebecca), Oliver, Dorothy, Hattie (Joe), and Patricia of Goodman, MS, Katheleen of Jackson, MS, nine grandchildren, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents Rosa Lee and Cornelius Brooks, sister Gelean Brooks, brothers Albert and John Will Brooks, and stepson Michael Burks.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
