Joe "Mike" Martinez, 75, departed this life April 6, 2025, at Porter Hospital, Denver, Colorado. Born December 19, 1949, in Boone, Colorado, to Adolph and Sara Martinez.
Preceded in death by his Parents Adolph and Sara Martinez, Brother Rudy Martinez, Grandparents Barney and Eloisa Martinez, a special brother-In-law Ralph Marquez, A Special Godson Eddie Ray "Chico" Griego Martinez.
Survived by his wife of 49 years, Theresa Martinez, daughters Sonia (Chris) Donovan of Conifer, Mona (Ernesto) Martinez of Denver, son Marci Joe (Vanessa) Martinez of Denver. Grandkids: Robert Jr. (Val) Mitchell, Jazlynn (Alex) Jimenez, Damon (Dominique) Martinez, Tobin Martinez, Giovanni Lopez, Diego Lopez, Amiah Escareno, Roman Escareno, Great Grandkids:
Isla Jimenez, Xander Jimenez, Brooks Mitchell, Cal Mitchell, Socorro Martinez.
Siblings: Josephine Marquez of Denver, Dorothy (Bob) Gonzales of Fowler, Gloria (Dominic) Ortiviz of Pueblo, Toney (Tina) Martinez of New Mexico, Edward (Celia) Martinez of Denver, Rubin (Maria) Martinez of Wheatridge.
Mike grew up in Boone, Co, went to Pueblo County High School. He always loved sports, he played baseball, basketball, wrestling and football. Mike enjoyed many years pitching fastpitch and later went on to play senior baseball. In 1968 he was drafted by the U.S. Army, he fought for his country in the Vietnam War, he was a Tank Gunner, and received THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL WITH THE "V". Mike was honorable discharge from the Army in 1970. Mike met and married Julie. They have a son, Marci Joe. That marriage dissolved. Mike moved to Denver, Co. He met and married Theresa, they have two daughters, Sonia and Mona. He loved coaching girls fastpitch for 10 years. The team name was Most Wanted, with his daughter Mona on the team, whom he taught to pitch. He received the "Denver 7 Everyday Hero of the week award" for coaching girls. He also
took the Most Wanted team as far as Hawaii to play.
He personally played 60 and over senior baseball for many years with the As team. In 2023 he was inducted to the Hall Of fame for baseball. In 2015 he bought a 1964 Chevy Impala and has been spending countless time in his garage, working on his car. Mike worked for Ryerson Steel Co. and retired in 2010, at the age of 60. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in December 2024. Mike succumbed to his death on April 6, 2025 at the age of 75. We will miss him greatly!

Our deepest condolences. Good friend Brother. Had some good times growing up and playing softball in Avondale and Boone. Remember playing baseball at Excelsior Jr High. 64-65. Never played on the same team. Will never forget you Brother. As we would Greet each other. RIP Bro until we meet again. Rest easy now Soldier. Thank you for your service. Love you man.
