Joetta Mathis Stevens, born on June 2, 1962, in Indiana, entered into eternal rest on August 22, 2025, in Pelahatchie, Mississippi, where she had resided for over forty years. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Joetta was cherished by her family and friends, all of whom will remember her as a beacon of love and kindness.
Joetta was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Ceilia Mathis. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Wayne Stevens, and her children, Gregory Stevens, Jessica Engle (married to Timothy), Justin Stevens (married to Anthony), and Brad Stevens. Additionally, she treasured the time spent with her ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, whose lives she enriched with her unwavering support and affection.
As a committed Baptist, Joetta found strength in her faith and shared that joy with those around her. She had a passion for gardening and flowers, taking delight in nurturing her plants and surrounding herself with the beauty of nature. Joetta's connection to her animals brought her happiness and companionship, further enriching her vibrant life.
Joetta's legacy is one of family, love, and shared moments. Her presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Visitation will be held on August 26, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, Mississippi, located at 3054 Hwy 80 West, Morton, MS 39117. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and celebrate her remarkable life.
