I posted this after his passing and I hope it's ok to share here:
"I went & sat by your pond, just now, with your fish that you just adored & cried my eyes out. You were a tough & firm man & a lot of people had the wrong impression of you but Brian & I knew the real you. You believed in us & if it wasn't for you, we truly wouldn't have all that we have. You taught Brian a skill & you pushed him to be the best he could be, you werent only his boss, you were his mentor & best friend. You were like a father to us both, but even more so to him. I don't think anyone will truly ever know the impact you had on us both, Pierson too. He loved "Johnny howse" & just walking in like he owned it, sitting in your chair, & getting a piece of candy I knew you hadn't been ok for a while, but I didn't realize this would happen so soon.
We love you John! Don't give them too much crap up there old man You can rest now, be with your mom & be free of all your pain, but we sure will miss you Today wasn't ideal, but I can have peace knowing you're not suffering. *hugs & love*"
