Church Point, LA: Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, December 30, 2024 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for John Leander "Lee" Benoit, Sr., 83. Mr. Benoit, a native and resident of Acadia Parish near Church Point, died Wednesday afternoon, December 25 at his residence. Fr. Brian Harrington, Pastor of the Church, will conduct the Services with Entombment immediately following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Hwy 35 north of Church Point.
Survivors include the mother of his children, Linda Richard Benoit of Church Point; his sons, John Benoit, Jr. and wife Piper of Lafayette, LA and Matt Benoit and wife Stephanie of Cankton, LA; a grandchild, Mollie Benoit and a sister, Brenda Courville and husband Willis of Maurice, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Leora LeJeune Benoit and two brothers, Mervin and Larry Benoit, Sr.
Visitation will be held at Guidry Funeral Home from 2:30 PM until 6:00 PM on Sunday, December 29 and continue from 8:00 AM Monday until the time of Services. A Rosary will be recited at 5:00 PM Sunday by Deacon Byrne Winn.
A hard-working man, Mr. Benoit was an Operator at the Canal Refinery in Church Point and raised cattle for a number of years. A loving father and grandfather, he will be missed by all who knew him.
