Mr. Giovanni (John) Bevilacqua, 101, died Saturday, December 30, 2023, at All American Assisted Living, Hillsborough, NJ with his loving family by his side.
John served in the United States Army on active duty in WWII as a First Sergeant with the 338th Field Artillery Battalion in Northern Italy. He was originally from Newark, NJ, and later became a resident of Scotch Plains, NJ in 1963 where he raised a family of 5 children with his loving wife Jeanette of 60 years. He worked as a Route Salesman for Aratex for 39 years when he successfully retired. During his retirement, he held various jobs in the floral industry. Some of his interests were watching his beloved NY Yankees and he was an avid bowler for over 50 years. Dad had a great sense of humor, a quick mind and wit. His benevolent and generous character really defined how people viewed him.
He was the true example and definition of a devoted father, family provider and devout Catholic. John was predeceased by his wife Jeanette, son William, grandson Bryan Kelly, brother Gerard and nephew Vincent. In addition, he is also survived by his children John and wife Susan, Robert, Janice Kelly and husband Keith, and Joseph and wife Sue, his cherished 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Wednesday, January 3, from 4-8 p.m. and on Thursday, January 4, from 8:15-9:00 a.m. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Thursday, January 4, at 9:00 a.m. followed by a 9:45 a.m. funeral mass at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges, NJ with Fr. Thomas J. Serafin, V.F., KCHS officiating. Committal words and entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Ave, East Hanover, NJ 07936.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, a charity that was close to John & Jeanette's hearts.
