John Bolly Obituary

John Frederick Bolly, a beloved pillar of the community and dedicated family man, passed away on January 3, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on October 11, 1938, in Columbus, Indiana, John lived a life characterized by commitment to service, education, and family.

A proud 1956 alumnus of Providence High School, John's educational journey continued at Bellarmine University, where he cultivated a strong connection with the athletic department, making significant contributions over the years. His professional life was equally notable, as he made substantial impacts in various roles. John sat on the Board of Directors of Bridgepoint/Goodwill for over 35 years and a member of the Board of Directors for the Mental Health and Guidance Center. showcasing his dedication to community service. Additionally, he held the position of Treasurer for the Louisville Coin Club and served on the board of the Clarksville Bicentennial Project in 1975-1976. As the owner and operator of Bolly Sellersburg Insurance and Sunnyside Real Estate for many years, he was well-regarded for his business acumen and commitment to his clientele.

John's legacy extends beyond his professional achievements; he was a passionate advocate for youth sports. He loved watching his children and grandchildren play their sports and other activities. He also founded the Clarksville High School Softball program and dedicating many years as a little league coach. His involvement with local athletics was mirrored by his active participation in his faith community, having been a former member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and a current member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church, where he held numerous roles, enriching the lives of those around him.

Above all, John cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 63 years, Marjorie Bolly; his children, Donna (Jeff) Burke, Jenifer (Stephen) Fuson, and Jack Bolly; and his grandchildren, Justin Burke, Renee (Lance) Kruger, Hayden Burke, Aaron Burke, Marcus Fuson, and Hannah (Grant) Reynolds. The joy of family continued with his great-grandchildren, Pierce Kruger, Knox Kruger, and Eliza Reynolds; and many nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil Bolly and Millicent Seng Bolly, as well as his siblings, Virgil Bolly and Carolyn Ernstberger.

His enduring contributions to his community and the lives he touched will be remembered through a legacy of compassion, dedication, and love.

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, at St. John Paul II Catholic Church (2253 West St. Joe Road, Sellersburg, IN 47172) with burial to follow at the church cemetery.
