Michael Silloway Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Scott Funeral Home on Feb. 9, 2026.
Michael John Silloway, Sr., age 64 of Jeffersonville, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at U of L Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of service, craftsmanship, and quiet strength.

Born to the late John Clark Silloway and Gisela Katharina (Weber) Padget, Michael grew into a man defined by dedication, discipline, and deep love for family and country. A 1979 graduate of Moore High School, he went on to earn his Bachelor's degree from Bellarmine College-laying the foundation for a life spent learning, serving, and building something meaningful wherever
he went.

Michael proudly served his country for more than 21 years in the United States Air Force. His military career carried him across the world, including time spent in Ecuador and Germany. He deeply valued the structure of military life and the camaraderie of the fellow airmen who stood beside him-working as a team, trusting one another, and always having each other's backs.
Those bonds, forged through service, stayed with him for a lifetime. Following his military retirement, Michael continued his career with AT&T as a Telecommunications Specialist, overseeing phone lines that spanned across the country. No matter the role, he approached his work with focus, integrity, and pride. Outside of work, Michael found joy in creating. A talented wood turner, he could often be found happily covered in woodchips and sawdust, crafting beautiful pieces for his family and friends-each creation made with care and intention. He was an avid table tennis player, a true lover of music (especially classic rock and jazz), and a devoted fan of his beloved UK Wildcats, cheering them on with unwavering loyalty.

Nature was Michael's refuge. He cherished his Charlestown property so deeply that he lovingly renamed it "Silloway Woods." There, he found peace-methodically checking every corner of
the land on his Red Kabota tractor, making sure all was well. Silloway Woods was more than a place; it was his sanctuary, a reflection of his steady, thoughtful spirit.

Michael was preceded in death by his beloved nephew, Waylen John Mantooth. He is survived by his daughter, Alison Silloway; sons, Justin Wayne Silloway and Michael John Silloway, Jr.; sister, Karen Gisela Mantooth and her husband, Barry; granddaughters, Paisley Jon Silloway and Keightley Dawn Keller; nephew, Bryan Mantooth and his children, Grayson, Alex and Onyx; niece, Jackie Mantooth and her children, Emily and Ely John; his step-father, Dennis Padget; his faithful doggie, Katja Silloway; and many other friends and family in both the United States and Germany who will forever remember his generosity, kindness, and quiet wisdom.

Funeral services will be 5 PM on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville. Friends may visit from Noon until service time at the funeral home.

Please show your love and support for Michael by wearing your Kentucky Wildcat Blue to his service. As Mike would say : "How 'bout them Cats"

Michael's life was one of purpose, loyalty, and love. His steady presence, generous heart, and gentle way of caring for others will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Yesterday

Mike will be missed by many. I´ve known Mike snd his sister Karen since they were young children. Their mom Gisela was one of my best friends. Mike had a kind heart and was a man of many talents. He always wore a smile.
My deepest sympathy to his family. I´m currently traveling and unable to be with you in your hour of grief but you will be in my heart and prayers
