John Darrick Brady April 28, 1964 - February 5, 2025
John Darrick Brady, 60, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Oxford on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. A memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, February 11, at 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Interment to follow at Barbee Cemetery in Lula, Mississippi. John was born to Jere and Benny Brady in Oxford, Mississippi, on April 28, 1964. John married Linda McCrory in 1983, and together they raised two children in Clarksdale, Mississippi. John served on the Clarksdale Police Department throughout the 90s. He also apprenticed under his father to become a master carpenter, specializing in cabinetry but could build anything. After leaving the police force, he devoted time to his business, Brady Built Cabinets, and his work can be found throughout many homes and businesses in the Mississippi Delta. John then took his skills to Parchman Penitentiary to work with and educate inmates in woodworking. In 2011, John and Linda moved to Oxford to be closer to their children and grandchildren. John enjoyed spending time with his family, working on his model trains and airplanes, and fishing Sardis Lake. To know John was to understand the meaning of genuine friendship. He had a unique way of making everyone he met feel like they were his new best friend. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him. John was preceded in death by his parents, Jere Linda Brady, Benny Frank Brady, his wife, Linda Gail Brady, and his beloved Yorkies. He is survived by his children, Joni Kelly Barrett and John Adam Brady of Oxford, and his grandchildren, Lealand Grace Barrett and Aniston Claire Barrett, also of Oxford; siblings Ralph Brady of Elgin, South Carolina, Debbie Wyckoff of Elgin, South Carolina, Jim Brady (Joan) of Petal, Mississippi, and Linda Taylor (Will) of Newnan, Georgia. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home, Clarksdale, Mississippi, is in charge of arrangements.
