John A. Brdar, 81, of Naperville, Illinois, passed away on March 25th, 2024, with his loving wife Theresa (nee Murawski) by his side. John's life was one of courage, commitment, and compassion.
John was born on December 28th, 1942, in Chicago, IL to John and Helen Brdar. He was raised in Brookfield and attended Lyons Township High School. John served our country in the U.S. Army. He completed his military service as a PFC stationed with NATO forces as communications specialist in Seckenheim, Germany. A proud veteran, John's strength and dedication were evident throughout his life. He was a respected member of the Croatian Fraternal Union, where he embraced his proud heritage. John worked as a computer analyst for over 35 years at CNA Insurance in downtown Chicago.
John and his beloved wife, of over 50 years, were the foundation of a large, loving family, which includes their four children: Scott (Deb), Chris (Sarah), Tim (Mary), and Tracy (Matt Demaj). His legacy of love continues through his grandchildren: Kylie (Brandon Bieze), Skyler, Dakota, Gage, Paxtyn, Rylan, Teaghan, Deklin, Quinnlyn, Everleigh, Madelyn, Toni, Maya, Luka, Ella Demaj, Franklin Demaj, Tess Demaj, and great-grandchildren Charlotte and Evelyn Bieze.
Survived by his brother, Jim (Mickie), and sister, Gerry (Carl Kraizinger), John shared countless cherished moments with them. He and Terri loved to travel and enjoyed numerous vacations and cruises over the years. Terri could convince him to go anywhere as long as she included a stopover in Las Vegas. John and Terri were devoted parishioners of Saints Peter and Paul Church for 50 years, where their children also attended school.
John's life was marked by love, laughter, resilience, and a dedication to his family and faith. His memory will forever inspire those who knew him, and his spirit will continue to guide us in acts of kindness and generosity.
A Celebration of John's Life will be held on Wednesday April 3, 2024, from 3 PM to 7 PM at Overman Jones funeral home, 15219 South Joliet Road in Plainfield. Friends and family are invited to share memories of a man whose life was a beacon of hope, strength, and love. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Naperville on Thursday, April 4th at 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation (give.michaeljfox.org) or to the Parkinson's Foundation (parkinson.org), organizations that supported John in living well with Parkinson's disease in his later years.
In the event of any technical difficulties during the live-stream a recording of the ceremony will be available afterwards.
