John Cornachio Obituary

Published by Daily Progress from May 29 to May 30, 2008.
John Michael Cornachio

John Michael "Jack" Cornachio passed away from this life on Monday, May 26, 2008, with his family by his side.

He was born on June 10, 1953, in New York, New York, to A. William and Catherine Cornachio, the fourth of seven children. His mother; his brother, Bill; and five sisters, Lynn, Sherry, Joan, Donna and Christine; along with their spouses and Jack's ten nieces and 13 nephews all remain to share in the celebration of Jack's life and spirit.

He was married to his beloved Jackie on June 11, 1977, with whom he welcomed four loving children into this world, Catherine Cornachio and her husband, David Munn, John Michael Cornachio Jr., Joan Cornachio, and Laura Cornachio Aldred and her husband, Matthew.

Jack loved God and his family with a devotion that was an example to many and attainable by few. His wit was quick and sharp, and more often than not, the object of his humor was himself. While Jack willingly embraced and enjoyed outsiders, few things gave him greater joy in life than being surrounded by Jackie and their children. His life was one of grace, and those who knew him were blessed.

The family thanks the doctors and nurses of H.O.P.E. Cancer Center, as well as the nurses on the oncology floor at Martha Jefferson Hospital, for their loving care. The family has particular affection for and gives special thanks to Dr. Emanuel Cirenza, Jack's oncologist and Jack's niece, Erin, who served as Dr. Cirenza's nurse.

Family night and interment will be private. A public celebration of Jack's life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2008, at Holy Comforter Catholic Church, with Monsignor Raymond Barton and Father Dennis McAuliffe officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to The Covenant School Scholarship Fund, 175 Hickory Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902.

Friends may send condolences to the family at www.hillandwood.com

Jackie & Family,
My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Cornachio family during this very difficult time.
Jack serviced my store as "The Little Debbie Man" for years. In all my years I had two favorite vendors and Jack was one of them. He and I had a lot of good conversations. May he rest in peace.

Jackie:
Words cannot express the sorrow I feel for what you/your family have gone through this past year. I know Jack is in a better place where flowers bloom and pain is felt no more. May God continue to bless you and your family as you mourn the loss of you husband and father of your children.

Dear Cornachio Family,
The Nowicki family will miss Jack very much every Sunday morning. He was such a kind and sincere person. We remember one Christmas season when we were shopping and saw him making his Little Debbie deliveries and he gave our girls some Christmas Debbie Cakes. The girls were thrilled! He was a man who was full of love.
