John Czifra

John Czifra, a man of unwavering faith and resilience, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, at the age of 82 in Calabash, NC. Born on July 3, 1943, in the Township of Weehawken, NJ, John lived a life full of love, dedication, and service.

John was a proud veteran who served his country with honor and bravery, earning the prestigious Purple Heart during his time in Vietnam. His courage and commitment to duty were matched only by his devotion to his family and his deep faith in Jesus.

After his military service, John became a self-made man, building and owning a successful tile sales and installation company. His strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit were evident in every aspect of his business, as he provided quality service to his community.

John was a passionate horticulturist, finding joy in gardening and nurturing the beauty of nature. He cherished time spent on the water, whether fishing or boating, and felt most at peace surrounded by the tranquility of the sea. Above all, John's greatest source of happiness was his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who always put his loved ones first.

Though his health challenges later in life prevented him from attending services, John's faith remained a cornerstone of his existence. He was a member of many Protestant churches throughout his life and held his relationship with God close to his heart.

John is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved sister, Mary LaRose. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Judy; daughters, Tina (Nimmer) Mattar of New Jersey and Sandra Brenes of Longs, SC; grandchildren Nile, Natalia, Alex (Lauren), and Stephania; and one great-grandchild, Micah.

A flag dedication in John's honor will take place on September 5, 2025, at Saltaire Village, where he and Judy shared many happy years. His interment will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery, where his service and sacrifice will be eternally remembered.

John Czifra's life was a testament to the power of perseverance, love, and faith. His legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him, and his memory will forever be cherished.
