Retired Seargent Lowell Police Department;
John M. Jack Davis, 65, of Dracut, Massachusetts, a member of a well-known Greater Lowell family, and part of 3 generations of Daviss who served on the Lowell Police Department, passed away peacefully on Sunday May 5, 2024, at Lowell General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was the beloved husband for over 38 years of Sheila L. (Pettit) Davis, who survives him.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, February 15, 1959, a son of the late Edward F. Davis, Jr., and the late Helen E. (Gargan) Davis, he attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School, Class of 1977.
In addition, he was State Championship Wrestler for Lowell High School.
Jack continued his studies at New Hampshire College where he received a degree in Criminal Justice and then his masters in Criminal Justice from Anna Marie College.
A proud and longtime member of the Lowell Police Department, Jack began his career in 1981 and over time was assigned to Car 6 and later as a Seargent at the Main Desk for several years until his retirement in 2012.
Jack had many interests including bowling, golf, crossword puzzles and was an ardent Boston Sports fan. He also enjoyed trips to Foxwoods with family and friends.
However, his greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren.
Besides his wife, Jack is survived by two sons John M. Davis, Jr. and his wife Thea of Billerica, MA and Joseph M. Davis of Dracut; two daughters Kelly A. Bettencourt and her husband Chris, and Colleen E. Leclair and her husband Conrad all of Dracut; four grandchildren Hayden, Parker, Tanner and Conrad; a brother Edward F.
