John Joseph DeGeorge at 72 years old passed away peacefully on Sept. 11, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
John was born on February 18, 1950 in Newark, New Jersey to John Dominic DeGeorge and Rose Lucy DeGeorge (Menza). He was the second of four children along with his sisters Rosemary, Joann, and Lucille. His family moved to Union where he attended Union High School graduating in 1967. He graduated from Monmouth College in 1971 with a political science degree, immediately following, enlisted in the Army National Guard and graduated from Officer Training School as a Lieutenant.
John returned to Union to work alongside his father at their family business, DeGeorge Jewelers at the 5 points in Union. His father retired and John continued the successful business before relocating to the Jersey shore. In 1982 he moved to Toms River, N.J. with his family where he started his construction company, DeGeorge Development. In 2003, John married the love of his life, Michele. Together they opened Michele's Gold and built a life filled with love, laughter, support and happiness for their family.
John was an extremely hard-working man whose passion for success was only exceeded by his love for his family. One of his proudest moments included working alongside his sons, John and Michael in their business ventures. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. John was a loyal friend and always cherished his closest friendships. Those lucky enough to have known him would describe him as a true gentleman, his endless generosity and deep appreciation for the ones he loved will forever be missed.
John was predeceased by his mother and father, John & Rose DeGeorge. Maryann DeGeorge, his former wife and mother of his children. His brother-in-laws: Robert Hussey, Michael Manganiello, Henry (Hank) Manganiello, and his nephew James Manganiello.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Michele DeGeorge; son John DeGeorge and wife Trish; son Michael DeGeorge and fiancé Danielle; son Eddie O'Neill and daughter Adriana Dudeck and husband Tyler; sister, Rosemarie Hussey; sister, Joann Pavano and husband Bill; sister, Lucille Corsi and husband Dave; bother-in-law Richie Manganiello and wife Grace; Margo Manganiello and Lisa Manganiello. His five grandchildren, Santino and Darien DeGeorge, Olivia DeGeorge, Violet and James Dudeck. In addition to his many loving and adoring nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visiting will be held on Thursday, Sept. 15 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Rd., Toms River, silvertonmemorial.com. A Mass of Christian burial will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Justin's RC Church, Toms River. You can arrive at the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Toms River.
