John Franzetti Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 2, 2024.
An Austin native, John Arthur Franzetti was born to Art and Charlotte November 10, 1950 and went home to Jesus December 18, 2023. He is survived by his wife Susan, his son Canyon Franzetti and wife, Alivia as well as his daughter Gianna and husband Ricky Gortva and his favorite granddaughter Dakota, his brother Ron and best friend, Patrick Lewellen. He is preceded in death by his son Daniel Dakota, his sister Sandra, and his parents Art and Charlotte. He loved sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with anyone who would listen and realized that Jesus was #1 in his life and that believing in Him was the best decision he ever made. The family appreciates all the prayers, kind thoughts and stories, and good food by his many friends.
John served in the US Navy during the Vietnam Era and belonged to the American Legion Jesse Samaripa Post 331 in Manor. He graduated from Southwest Texas in San Marcos with a degree in Graphic Design and opened Franzetti Design as well as working for Austin Family Magazine and currently, The Manor Journal. He enjoyed being volunteered for charitable causes and participated when asked, no matter what the need was. Grampy and Coach John were his favorite titles. John will be sorely missed for his incredible barbeque and cooking for others, his wonderful vegetable gardens, as well as his paintings and pottery. John served as a Manor Little League baseball coach, a Boy Scout leader, and the taxi service for his kids as they participated in many sports, clubs and horse shows. His children are his greatest legacy.
He was incredibly brave and courageous with his long-standing illnesses of 25 years. The family wishes to express immense gratitude for the incredible ER, IMC and ICU staff at North Austin Medical Center, medical practitioners, RT and the ancillary staff. They truly demonstrated excellence and compassion, as well as humor. In addition, he would not have lived beyond 2013 without the care of Texas Oncology, Austin Gastroenterology, the VA, and Dr. Keller of Village Medical. A celebration of life will be held in his honor at Eternal Faith Baptist Church (EFBC) in Manor, Texas on Sunday January 7 at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the EFBC Children's Fund or the American Legion Post 331.

I couldn't have asked for a better in-law for my daughter. I've known John since before we had kids. My daughter, Alivia, and Canyon married a few years ago and that would not have happened without John. They played together as toddlers and later in life found each other with John's help. John and I stayed in communication over the years as a friend and a client. My bet is John is doing just fine and has found peace in Heaven. God bless his family in this difficult transition. May all find peace in their knowledge of his commitment to his Savior.

Our condolences to Susan, Canyon and Gianna. We have fond memories of John during our baseball years and through church with him. When several of the parents and coaches were upset over umpire decisions, John was our voice of reason. He was always there to support us in our frustrations and always found the good in everything. John knew his Bible as well. I know he is rejoicing with Jesus and telling us all that he is perfectly fine. May God bless you all during this time of grief and loss. Hugs and prayers for your heavy hearts.

John was an amazing man who loved God and I know he loved my whole family. My kids have such good memories of sitting with him in church while i was in the choir loft (while Troy was deployed). I´m thankful for the part he played in our lives. He will be missed.

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. I remember John from school and all us girls had such a crush on him because he reminded us of one of the Beatles. He was such a nice guy and it was so nice to hear about the legacy he built with his life and his family. My sincerest condolences to all the family.

Unbelievable. I just shared a table with John and Susan at the Reagan 55th reunion. Great memories of John both starting a Pearce through Reagan and of course when we shared a house together on Cameron Rd. Such a shame, great guy and great memories.
