John Hixson

John Philip Hixson, age 77, of Vienna, passed away on December 19, 2025, at his home.
He was born on May 26, 1948, in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of the late Ethan and Elizabeth Hixson.
John was a 1967 graduate of Mathews High School. Shortly after graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Army, including service in Vietnam.
Following his military service, John was employed for many years with East Ohio Gas as a meter reader, from which he later retired. He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to providing for his family.
John enjoyed Cleveland sports, Ohio State athletics, and spending time talking, laughing, and visiting with family and friends. He especially cherished simple moments spent together. His family remembers him as friendly, loyal, and deeply devoted to those he loved.
He is survived by his son, Ethan L. Hixson (Anna) of Mentor; his sister, Martha Flint (Lawrence) of Hartford; and his brother, Donald Hixson (Joan) of Washington State. He is also survived by extended family members and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Hixson Joyce (Tom) of Springfield Township.
A Celebration of Life will be held on a later date.
