John Wade Hulsewede passed away peacefully at Veterans Hospital on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at the age of 74.
He was preceded in death by Patricia Berti, his loving wife of 44 years, his parents Louis and Mildred Hulsewede and his nephew Eric Hulsewede.
John was born in Louisville on June 16, 1948 and the youngest of two sons. He attended Holy Spirit School and Trinity High School. He served in the U. S. Army for two years and was stationed in Korea. John had a long career as an electrician working for United Electric, a company co-founded by his father. Later, he started his own company, JH Electric, and retired in 2016.
A favorite pastime of John's was watching sports. He was an avid golfer and scored a hole in one at Polo Fields in 1997. His children remember him as a kind and good-natured dad, always working hard and helping others. They have many fond memories of family vacations in Florida from their childhood to the present day with his grandchildren.
John is survived by: his children Neil (Gina), Jason (Kate), Ashley Gillenwater (Ashley); his brother Thomas (Debby); his sisters-in-law Mary Lou Sullivan, Joanne Hammond, and Gail Spurr (James); his grandchildren Holland, Madison, Clara, Wade, Buck, Woods, and Vin; along with numerous other family and friends.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 7, from 3:00-7:00 at Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road. Funeral service will be at noon on Thursday, June 8, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 508 Breckenridge Lane, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Scleroderma Foundation.
