John Johnstone Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Orender Family Home on Oct. 9, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

John D Johnstone, 60, passed away suddenly at home. He was born in Woodbury, New Jersey, and lived in Margate City before settling in Manasquan with his beloved wife Kim, and their two golden retrievers.
John received his Master of Art and Education from Seton Hall University. He proudly served as a New Jersey State Trooper, rising through the ranks to the position of Lieutenant in the Evidence Management Unit in West Trenton, NJ. Even after his retirement in 2013, John continued to serve part time with the NJSP dedicated to the work and colleagues he respected.
He survived by his loving parents, John and Elaine Johnstone. His devoted sister, Christine Bruce Johnstone and brother-in-law Don Bruce. His in- laws the late Vincent Karpeles and mother-in-law, Marie Karpeles. His in-laws the late Barbara Martini and Rich Martini and Christine and Robert Roesch. His cherished Niece and nephews Lindsey, Andrew. Jack Roesch and Raymond and Nicholas Martini. He was preceded in death by his beloved Aunt Anne Henry and golden retrievers Danny, Hogan and Gilly.
John leaves behind his broken hearted and adoring wife Kim- whom has always been the love of his life from day one whom he shared countless memories and dreams with of growing old together. John found peace and solace outdoors, whether skiing, paddle boarding on the Manasquan River, windsurfing on Lakes Bay or spending time with Kim at their favorite spot, Sea Girt Beach. He was an avid runner who kicked off summer months by running the Spring Lake 5 and other local races. John also loved the arts, often enjoying trips to the theater and dinner in New York City, Manasquan and during their time at their home in Naples, Florida.
He was incredibly intelligent, thoughtful, kind man a loyal friend and a trusted servant who sought peace and happiness in life's simplest moments and strived to be the best version of himself. He had a heart of gold. And leaves an unfillable void in the lives of all who loved him and were fortunate enough to know him.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Sunday, October 12, 2025 from 1PM to 4PM, at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan, NJ 08736.
