John Ryan Montenery, 53, of Columbus passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at his home. He was born on June 24, 1972, in Columbus to John P. and Mary Lou (Sasser) Montenery.
Ryan earned a Bachelor of Business from Miami University, a Master of Counseling from the University of New Mexico, and a Master of Experimental Psychology from University of Hartford. Ryan was a member of the Screen Actors Guild. He enjoyed golfing, acting, cycling, playing his guitar and violin, skateboarding, reading and collecting comic books. Ryan worked for many years as a Behavioral Therapist before returning to Ohio to take over management of the family business.
Ryan is survived by his parents, John and Mary Lou of Dublin; sisters, Meridith (Mike) Goldstein of Mooresville, NC and Laura (Mike) Tobin of Upper Arlington; and nieces and nephews, Abby, Jacob, Lily, Jonathan, June, Ruby, and Arthur.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 until the time of a funeral service at 1 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Rd., Mount Vernon with Daniel Baker officiating. A private burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery.
