John Roy Moran, Jr. passed away at his home in Troy, AL on Sunday, May 26, 2024. John Roy was born on May 28, 1949 to John Roy Moran, Sr and Ruth Martino of D’Iberville, MS. 

John Roy loved his family more than life itself. He spent his entire life as a carpenter and over 35 years as a taxidermist. He absolutely loved telling stories and playing poker while talking smack to distract other players, most of which he called his friends.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother and survived by his wife, Darlene (Fountain) Moran, of 55 years. Together they had eight children: John Roy Moran III, Brandi DeSandro (Mike), Darlia Roberts, Casie Scott (Derek), Kemberly Groue (Gerald), Shane Moran (Jessica), Courtney Jinright (Jerod), and Emelta Liptrot. His legacy will continue to live on through his 24 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. 

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, 675 Howard Avenue in Biloxi, MS. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am, which will be followed by services at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at D’Iberville Memorial Park, 11041 Gorenflo Road, D’Iberville, MS, 39540. Immediately afterwards, family and friends are invited to join John Roy’s family at the home of Kemberly Groue, 15721 Cruthirds Road, Vancleave, MS, 39565. 

In order for John Roy’s friends in Troy, AL to share their condolences, a Memorial Gathering will take place on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at the home of Brandi DeSandro, 3319 County Road 201, Troy, AL, 36079 from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm.
