John H. "Jay" Mulhern, August 10, 1941, age 83, a resident since 1972 of Flossmoor, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025. Beloved husband of the late Margaret J. “Marge” Mulhern (nee Murphy), married on August 1, 1970. Dear father of John (Jennifer) Mulhern and Brian (Elisa) Mulhern. Cherished grandfather of Molly, Will, Margot, Sophie, Meredith, and Carly Mulhern. Dear brother of Ed (Sue) Mulhern. Jay attended Mendel Catholic High School and is a 1963 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where his father, sons, and grandchildren have also attended. He earned his CPA, obtained his MBA from the University of Wisconsin, was a U.S. Army veteran and worked most of his career at the University of Illinois. He coached and served as Treasurer of Flossmoor Baseball for many years. Jay was always kind, warm, intelligent, and positive with a big smile, and brought a creative and unique perspective to almost any topic. He loved many things including Notre Dame football, the Cubs, Bears, accounting, learning, and travel, but mainly his wife and family which were at the center of his life. All services will be private. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Worth, Illinois.
