John D. Nichols

John D. Nichols, 65, of Watertown, WI, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025, at his home.

A gathering of family and friends will take place at Hafemeister Funeral Home on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 5 until 8 p.m., with a time of sharing at 7 p.m. A private family burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watertown.

The son of Alvin and Beulah Mae (nee Mashburn) Nichols, John Dale Nichols was born in Detroit, MI, on August 29, 1960. He was a 1978 graduate of Lakeshore High School. Following his graduation, he honorably served in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany and distinguished himself as an amateur boxer.

John furthered his education by studying at Free Will Baptist Bible College before earning his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Belmont College. On August 9, 1986, he married Pamela Minchew in Jesup, GA. He and Pamela shared over three decades of marriage until she passed away on February 7, 2020.

John built a respected career as a software engineer, lending his talents to Wachovia Bank and Silas Technologies. At the time of his passing, he was a valued member of the team at Baxter Medical, where he worked as a software developer.

John's life was guided by deep commitments and love for others. His strong faith was central to his life, and he was a devoted member of the Beth Messiah congregation in Menomonee Falls. He had a passion for hard work and discipline, which was evident in his youth when he trained at the renowned Kronk Boxing Gym in Detroit. Above all, John cherished his family; he loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed traveling with his loving partner Margaret.

John is survived by his son, Dr. Kyle (Arielle) Nichols; grandchildren, Gentry Zimpel, Killian Zimpel, Eleanor Mae Nichols, Liam John Nichols, Evelyn Marie Nichols, with another expected; loving partner, Margaret Weiher; siblings, Lynn (Adrienne) Nichols, Mary Ann Robbins, Melonie (Skip) Payne, Marie Gleason, Herb (Rita) Nichols, Gene Nichols, Terry (Della) Nichols, Patricia (George) Burton, Molly (fiancé Rick) Wright; Kay Nichols; many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews; close friends, Tim Steele, the Ford family, Johnny Poss, and the old Wachovia gang; as well other relatives and friends.

John is further preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Philip Nichols and Dewey Nichols; and sister, Polly Schulz.
