John G. Nuhfer

John G. Nuhfer, born July 19, 1951, in Oil City, PA, passed away March18, 2025. He was the son of Norman F. Nuhfer and Mary R. Nuhfer (Aites). John grew up in Oil City and graduated from Oil City High School in 1969. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Penn State University in 1973 and later earned his MBA from Ashland University in 1985.
John dedicated 37 years of his career to International Paper in Dover, Ohio, where he worked as a production supervisor, superintendent, and supply chain manager.
A lifelong outdoorsman, John found peace and joy in hunting and fishing. He was a proud Eagle Scout with three palms and earned numerous honors in scouting, including the Burroughs Award, Hornaday Award, Silver Beaver Award, and the prestigious Wood Badge Award. His passion for scouting took him across the country and beyond, attending the Schiff Scout Reservation, Philmont, and National Jamboree in 2010 and 2013.
John's adventurous spirit led him to visit all 50 states, as well as the United Kingdom, Canada, and the Virgin Islands. Whether exploring new places or gathering around a table for a game of cards, John cherished time spent with friends and family.
He is survived by his brothers Stephen (Kathy) Nuhfer and Patrick Nuhfer; sisters Susan Tomson and Peggy Stanford; his former wife Janet; his children Eric Nuhfer and Valerie (Rajneesh Bhasskar) Nuhfer; and his grandchildren, Quinn Nuhfer and Scarlett Bhasskar. He also leaves behind his best friends, Frank Meyer and Rick Supel, whose lifelong camaraderie meant the world to him.
John's life was one of exploration, dedication, and love for those closest to him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
