PITTSBURGH – John R. Null, Jr., 60, beloved husband of Tracy (Huddart) Null and father of Morgan (Cian Malcolm) and Jack, returned home to his Lord and Savior, September 5, 2025, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born December 15, 1964, in Pittsburgh, PA, John was the son of the late Dick and Alice (Gannon) Null. He graduated from Gateway High School, class of 1982 and received his bachelor's degree in accounting from Penn State University in 1987. Upon graduation he joined Touche Ross which later became Deloitte, where John became a Partner in 1999. At Deloitte, John met the love of his life, Tracy. In 2005, John joined Schneider Downs as a Shareholder, retiring in 2025. During John's distinguished career, he often remarked that his greatest joys came from advising his clients and mentoring young professionals.
John and Tracy married in 1992 and became loving parents to Morgan and Jack. He considered his children to be his greatest accomplishment. A lifelong athlete himself, he immersed himself equally in traveling to dance competitions and hockey tournaments for decades showing never-ending enthusiasm for his kids. For John, free time meant golf with friends and family in any kind of weather on any course that would have him, but most often at his home course, St. Clair Country Club. His favorite golf partner was his brother-in-law, Don Huddart. Their annual guy's golf trip was always "memorable."
He had an endless thirst for learning and was always reading something new. John was a consistent source of strength and a reliable voice of reason in any setting. He always reminded those close to him to savor life's precious moments. He and Tracy loved hosting family gatherings where John could be found bartending and sharing a toast and a story with each and every guest. He loved family vacations, travel, wine, sunsets, a 'sweet' pair of shoes and a perfectly crafted Old Fashioned. An avid sports fan and historian, John cheered on PSU and Pittsburgh sports teams with unwavering passion. John was an active member and Elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
John is also survived by his siblings Jane (Evan) Kogan, Jeff (Rusti) Null, and Tracy's siblings, Don Huddart, Randy (Beth) Huddart, Bob (Cindy Lausberg) Huddart, Jim (Judy) Huddart, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends.
Family and friends will be received Monday, September 8, 2025, from 1:00pm – 4:00pm and 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Beinhauer Funeral Home, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317. A service of remembrance will be held Tuesday, September 9, 2025, 11:00am at Westminster Church, 2040 Washington Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15241, followed by graveside prayer and internment at Forest Lawn Gardens Cemetery, Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317.
