John Pierce

John Pierce, 93, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Mercy Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. John was born and educated in South Boston, Massachusetts and graduated from South Boston High School. He attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and STCC. Born May 10, 1931, John was the son of the late John and Lois (Bridgeo) Pierce. He was a parishioner of St. Patricks Church in Springfield. John proudly served our country in the United States Army for 9 years during the Korean and Vietnam Wars before marrying Carla Rose Spinoglio in 1968. John worked at Holyoke Gas and Electric for 25 years in numerous positions, working up to his role as an energy conservationist. Outside of work, he spent his time with his loved ones. He dedicated time to travel, golfing with his wife in all 50 states. He also belonged to the VFW, showing support and pride for those who served. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by three sisters Helen Kelley, Lois O Connor and Frances Millett and his son in law Peter Munsell. John is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Carla R. (Spinoglio) Pierce of Springfield, two devoted children John C. Pierce of Lowell, MA., and Mary W. Munsell of Granby, CT., and he leaves his two adored granddaughters Emily and Autumn. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 11:30a.m. meeting directly at St. Patricks Church, 1900 Allen Street, Springfield. Burial and military honors will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam. Arrangements entrusted to the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA, 01118.
