John Rooke Obituary

Born on February 15, 1946 in Coudersport, PA, he was the son of the late John S. and LaHoma (Hoyt) Rooke. John was a graduate of Dundee High School. He married Laura Coyle on April 3, 1965. She predeceased him on October 2, 2020. John worked as a truck driver for various employers before his retirement.
John will be remembered for his love of being by the lake, specifically Cross Lake and Lamoka Lake. When he wasn't enjoying the views of the water, he could be found sitting by the fire. John also loved to watch NASCAR races with his friend, George.
John is survived by his sons: John S. (Rebecca) Rooke, III, Shawn Rooke; daughter, Sandra Whitman; 9 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and sisters: Ann (Christopher) Braga and Anita (Dale) Money.
It was John's wish that there be no services. Carpenter's Funeral Home, 14 E. Pulteney St., Corning, has been entrusted with the arrangements. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of John Stephen Rooke Jr., please visit our Tree Store.
