John Depening Tollenaar III passed away at his home Saturday, February 22nd at the age of 77 years.
John was born February 22,1948 in Kirksville, MO to John Tollenaar II and Alma Vice. He graduated from Kirksville High School in 1966. He attended College at Northeast Missouri State Teachers College with his master's degree in mathematics and specialist degree in Administration. Mr. T taught mathematics and was an administrator for 43 years in Southern Missouri, Iowa and Florida. He found happiness in sharing his love for math and his many math jokes. He enjoyed shooting pool, refereeing basketball and volleyball, and umpiring softball and baseball games.
Mr. Tollenaar is survived by his wife Debbie Tollenaar, five children; Randi Kirkpatrick and husband Kelly and children Kyla, Silas and Cora. Becky Bruton and husband Kyle and children Jorden and Finley. John Tollenaar IV and wife Bailey and children Eleanor, Jaylee and Tatum. Julie Valdivia and husband Mike and children Jack, Josephine and Benjamin. Jessie Lanahan and husband Danny and children Rose, Grace, Danni Jo and Sullivan
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Thayer High School (401 East Walnut St. Thayer, MO 65791) for a scholarship in memory of Mr. T.
