John Michael Verde, age 77, passed from this life on Monday, July 14, 2025. He was born on July 19, 1947, in Beaumont, Texas, to Mike and Thelma (Austin) Verde.
John earned a bachelor’s degree and went on to build a successful business centered around his passion for tennis. As the founder and owner of Strokemaster, a company specializing in tennis equipment, he dedicated much of his life to the work he loved. His commitment, creativity, and work ethic were hallmarks of his career.
A man of faith, John was a member of both Central Bible Church in Fort Worth and Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas. He was known for his love of tennis, his fondness for horses, and most of all, his deep devotion to his family - especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy.
John was preceded in death by his parents; beloved daughter, Shelley Moore; son-in-law, Ken Guidry; and brother-in-law, Larry Linsenbardt.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Diane Verde of Weatherford, Texas; his son, Michael Verde; daughters, Kim Guidry and Kristie Hodges and husband, Mark; grandchildren, Brachele Harkey and husband, Matt, Halston Hodges and wife, Brittany, Kollin Hodges and fiancé, Jordan Chesak, and Braley Graham and husband, Aaron; and eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Becky Linsenbardt, along with nieces, cousins, and many dear friends.
A memorial service honoring John’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 8, 2025, at the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086.
