John Michael Vernal, Age 81, of Fort Pierce, Florida and Michigan, passed away on 9/28/2025,
John was born June 18, 1944, in West Point, NY, the son of Lewis Vernal and Ada Mae Wing.
John joined the Navy in 1962 and served on the USS Little Rock until honorably discharged in 1968.
John married Cynthia Reyst on March 31, 1983. They were married for 39 years until Cynthia passed on July 31, 2022.
John worked as a Lineman and retired from Michigan Bell. He had many jobs in retirement, but his favorite was working at Little Jims bait and tackle.
John especially loved golfing, fishing, the gun range, crossword puzzles, watching the news, and raising butterflies.
He had a love for Ketchup, the Detroit Red Wings and was torn between his hometown Detroit Lions and the Miami Dolphins.
Remaining to cherish John’s memory are his daughter, Jennifer (Glenn) Lafever; granddaughter Paige Lafever, brothers, Blaine Vernal, Russell (Carol) Vernal; sister, Donna Vernal; nieces and nephews, Tony Pagani, Daniela (Mark) Subialka and Terrance (Christine) Weinzierl.
Preceding John in death is his wife Cynthia Vernal; Sister-in-law Diane Vernal, Nephew Christopher Weinzierl and parents, Lewis Vernal and Ada Mae Vernal.
