John Edgar Wallace

John Edgar Wallace, Sr., affectionately known as John, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025, in Durham County, North Carolina, at the age of 78. Born on November 20, 1946, in Durham County, John remained a beloved member of his community throughout his life.
A dedicated data technician in the textile industry, John was known for his diligent work ethic and keen attention to detail. His professional life was marked by his commitment and dedication, contributing significantly to the industry he served for many years.
Beyond his career, John was a man of diverse interests and passions. An avid beekeeper, he found joy in the meticulous care of his hives and the sweetness of the honey they produced. He had a deep love for cooking and was renowned among family and friends for his culinary skills, particularly his homemade fig preserves. His green thumb was evident in his flourishing vegetable and flower gardens, which he tended with great pride.
John cherished the tranquility of the coast and often sought solace in its beauty. A devoted hunter, he enjoyed duck, deer, rabbit, squirrel, and bird hunting, appreciating the harmony of nature and the thrill of the chase. An active member of the Masonic Lodge and a man of Baptist faith, John nurtured his spiritual life with the same devotion and passion that he brought to all his endeavors.
John was preceded in death by his beloved son, John Edgar Wallace, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Wallace; his brother, Jim Wallace and wife Betty; his sisters, Annette Parsons and husband Bud, and Marilyn Perkey and husband Martin. Though John has left this world, he leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of love and devotion that will endure in the hearts of those who knew him.
The family will hold a graveside service at a later date in Maplewood Cemetery in Durham, North Carolina, where friends and family will gather to honor and celebrate John's life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of choice in his memory.
