John C. Ward, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, in Canfield, Ohio. Born on October 22, 1942, in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of the late Charles and Mabel Ward. John lived a life filled with passion, adventure, and an unwavering commitment to his family.
John's 25 plus year career in the rail industry was marked by his steadfast work ethic and commitment to safety. Beyond the rail yard, John proudly served in the United States Air Force, which instilled in him values that would guide him throughout his life.
Among his many hobbies and interests, John found joy in visiting casinos, traveling, and camping in his motor home. However, his most cherished moments were those spent with his family, particularly enjoying the company of his grandchildren, whom he adored.
Known for his leadership and community involvement, John was also a proud Master Mason, serving with distinction in the Aut Mori Grotto of Youngstown. His dedication to his community and the principles of Masonry were reflections of his character.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Helen (Campbell) Ward; daughters Leah Ward and Kimberly Ward; stepsons Craig (Rosie) VanCamp and Chuck VanCamp; ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. His family was his greatest treasure, and he devoted much of his life to nurturing and supporting them.
Preceding him in death were his parents, as well as his two twin daughters, Jane Russel and Jeanie Coudriet, alongside his four sisters and one brother, all of whom will be remembered fondly.
Family and friends will gather to pay their respects at Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral Home in Sebring, Ohio, on Saturday, August 30, 2025, from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM.
