John Allen Wickersham, 83, of North Ogden, Utah passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024 due to natural causes. John was born Tuesday, September 3, 1940 in Topeka, Kansas to Helen Dolores Crawford and John Arthur Wickersham. John graduated from St. Agnes High School in Roeland Park, Kansas and served in the US Navy between January 25, 1958 and January 24, 1964.
John married Patricia Sue Layton on December 29, 1962 at St. Agnes Parrish in Roeland Park, Kansas. John and Pat had four children, relocating their family to Woods Cross, Utah in the early 1970s then to North Ogden, Utah in the mid-1970s where John lived the rest of his life.
John had a successful career as a journeyman plumber, working hard through the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s to support his family.
Upon retirement, John greatly enjoyed working as a volunteer with the North Ogden Police Department. John had over 20 years of a fun filled retirement including the experience of helping to raise four grandsons and one granddaughter, all of whom adore him.
Family and friends have happy memories made with John throughout the many years of camping, boating, fishing, traveling and all other kinds of activities which John helped to make memorable and special. John spent his life as a kind and gentle man with a strong work ethic and a compassion for others, dearly loved by family and friends. John had a great sense of humor which he passed to all his children and grandchildren, a cherished legacy.
John is survived by his wife, Patricia of North Ogden, UT, Daughters Kelly Grashoff (Matthew, Nicholas), CA, Roni Brunner (Michael, Brooke, Zachary), WI, son Kevin Wickersham, UT, grandson Dylan Wickersham, NV and sister Susan Krausse (Kurt, Chad), MO. John was preceded in death by his son, Shawn Allen Wickersham.
Family and friends may call on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 9:30am to 10:30am at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, UT. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 19, 2024 at 11:00am at the St. James Catholic Church, 495 N Harrison Blvd., Ogden, UT.
Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden, UT.
