Allen was born on July 20, 1971, in Richlands, Virginia, and was the son of the late John Edward Cantrell and Bernice Maxine Rose Cantrell. To know Allen was to love him, he was loving, mischievous, and sneaky to a fault. If you were a part of his life, then you knew he picked at those he loved. His favorite things in life were fishing, playing horseshoes, playing video games, and watching all types of NCIS and John Wayne westerns. Allen had lived most of his life in Richlands before moving to Galax 20 years ago. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry Cantrell, Roger Cantrell, and Ronald Cantrell.

Sisters: Connie Bowman and her husband, Bradley of Galax, VA
Patricia Cantrell of Galax, VA
Phyllis Justice and her husband, Mike of Cedar Bluff, Va
Carol Lowe of Swords Creek, VA
Brother Gary Cantrell of Richlands, VA
Nieces and Nephews: Brandon White, Jordan Ryan Cantrell, Sarah Compton, Jonathan Justice, Alexis Justice, Cody Lowe, Amber Lowe, Joseph Lowe, Perry Lowe, Michael Shawn Cantrell, Victoria Cantrell, Roger Cantrell, Jr.
Several great nieces, great nephews, family, and friends also survive.
The funeral service for Johnny Allen Cantrell will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia, with Ministers Troy Lester, Chris Lindamood, and Seth Shortridge officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Cody Lowe, Michael Shawn Cantrell, Johnnie Compton, Jonathan Justice, Marvin Lowe, Winfred Keen, and Bobby Lowe will be Pallbearers.
A visitation will be held on Thursday from noon until the time of service.
