Mr. Johnny Dismuke, age 73, of Lyons, passed away Monday, August 4, 2025, after a brief illness. He was a lifelong resident of Toombs County and had previously worked in Public Works for the city of Vidalia. He served our country in the United States Army and was deployed to Korea. Johnny was a simple man who enjoyed fishing, reading, and watching the news with his cup of coffee.

Mr. Dismuke was preceded in death by his father, George Dismuke; his mother and stepfather, Edna and John Rider; one grandson, Mason McCarty; his partner, Lois Faye Holley; and brother-in-law, Billy Darden.

Mr. Dismuke's loved ones include his son, Scott McCarty and wife Deidre of Metter; four stepchildren, Reggie Wood and wife Sylvia of Lyons, Courtney Garten of Cedar Crossing, Elijah Wood of Vidalia, and Bobby Holley of Baxley; four siblings, Marilyn Darden, Wanda Batay, Roger Dismuke all of Lyons; and Brenda Brantley of Uvalda; ten grandchildren, Felicia Hickey and husband Daniel of Augusta, Dylan McCarty and fiancé Chelsa of Mount Vernon, Cherie Hodges and husband Jordan of Locust Grove, Jason Cook and Josh Cook, both of Vidalia, Maci McCarty and wife Alana Johnson of Swainsboro, Marlon Conner, Jason Conner, Nicholas Pope, and Bradley Pope all of Glenwood; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 9th at 11:00 am in the chapel of Wilkes Funeral Home with Pastor Mitch Bellflower officiating. There will be a private burial to follow at Sharpe Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Diamonds in the Ruff, PO Box 771, Soperton, GA, 30457.

The arrangements have been entrusted to Wilkes Funeral Home of Vidalia.
