Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory - Peachtree Corners Chapel on Mar. 7, 2025.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jonathan Nathan Howard, age 50, of
Peachtree Corners, Georgia, who left us suddenly on Sunday, March 2, 2025. He was born in Springfield, Missouri, on January 3, 1975 (50 years to the day after his paternal grandfather). Jonathan lived a life defined by accomplishment, generosity, and kindness to those around him.
Jonathan was raised on the beaches of Pensacola, FL, and later moved to Lake City, FL, where he graduated from Columbia High School in 1993. Jonathan continued his academic journey to earn a bachelor's degree in geomatics from the University of Florida in 1998 where he became an ardent supporter of the Gators. His love for sports also extended to all Atlanta sports teams, especially the Braves.
Jonathan played baseball throughout high school and college and was affectionately known as Hobbs by his teammates (after the character Roy Hobbs from the movie The Natural). He was known for his deep love of golf, playing frequently, but only while bemoaning how hot he was.
His beloved dogs, Lucy and Stanley-a.k.a. "Stan the Man"-were constant companions, bringing him comfort and joy.
In his professional life, Jonathan thrived as Vice President of Surveying at Planners & Engineers (PEC+) where his leadership and dedication made a lasting impact on those he worked with for over 20 years. His legacy extends beyond his career to the family he cherished dearly. He is survived by his loving father, John Howard (Marcia Teague); his mother, Linda Howard (Al Boettjer); his brother, Joe (Amber) Howard; and his sister, Amie (Justin) Collins. He is also survived by his four beloved nephews-Marshall, Wyatt, Nolan, and Garrison-who affectionally called him Uncle J. Additionally, he leaves behind many extended family members and close friends he considered family.
Jonathan's family invites friends, colleagues, and all who knew him to gather for a memorial service that will take place on Sunday, March 9, 2025. A public viewing will start at 2:00 PM with a celebration of life service to be held at 3:00 pm in the Peachtree Corners Chapel of Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory. A reception will follow at the funeral home.
Jonathan's memory will be forever cherished. In this time of sorrow, we encourage all who loved him to share stories and celebrate a life that touched many. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jonathan's name to some of his favorite charities: Children's Healthcare of Atlanta or Make-a-Wish Foundation or Peachtree Farm.
As we remember Jonathan, let us carry forward his love of music, his witty sarcasm, his enjoyment of sports, and his unwavering love & loyalty for family and friends. Rest in peace, dear Jonathan; we love you, and there are no words to express how deeply you are missed.
